Boring Building
2020
The architecture that we create today caters to large-scale,
corporate interests. This has resulted in the creation of systems and common
elements of design that work to make it as easy as possible for corporate
interests to build buildings. As a result of this, the appearance and
functionality of these buildings has converged to the point where buildings all
look essentially the same. Buildings of today lack the soul and character and
expression of those who inhabit them, and instead pursue unobtrusiveness.
The boring building seeks to redefine and democratise the occupation of our workspaces. It looks to open up the colonisation and adaptation of our workspaces as we see fit. Through the participation and aggregation of the individual workspaces, the boring building expresses the soul, the character, the expression of its inhabitants.
